The first international sprint regatta to be held in more than 30 years in Great Britain has recently taken place at Eton Dorney. The London Canoe Sprint Invitational International Regatta was the 18th event of the London Prepares series to take place. The event involved two-hundred athletes from 30 countries and featured all the Olympic events with the exception of the K4 races, and followed the exact same schedule at the 2012 Summer Olympics. It also saw eight athletes in each race and each class had three rounds and a B final. The event was a chance for the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) to test the venue for sporting field of play, results, timing and scoring systems. The venue has also had some upgrades in preparation for next years Games which includes a new 50m span bridge over a widened entrance to the return lake, making access easier for vehicles and pedestrians.
