Cantabrian Jo Kiesanowski went within a whisker of claiming her second medal of the Delhi Commonwealth Games when she finished fourth in the womens cycling road race today.

Kiesanowski, already a silver medallist in the womens scratch race on the track, barely dipped out in a sprint finish to the gruelling 112km road race.

The race was won by Australian Rochelle Gilmore from Englishwoman Elizabeth Armistead.
Another Australian, Chloe Hosking, pipped Kiesanowski on the line.

There were New Zealand hopes that when Cath Cheatley launched a strong attack 2km from the finish she might get among the medals. But she was soon swallowed up by the peloton and eventually finished 25th.
