New Zealand Olympian and boardsailing great Barbara Kendall is in line to become a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Kendall, who won gold at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics, is one of three new members nominated for election at the general assembly in Durham, South Africa, in July. Kendall competed at five Summer Olympic Games for New Zealand, earning a silver in Atlanta in 2006 and a bronze at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Babara has been on the IOC's Athletes' Commission since 2005. Spanish canoeing official Jose Perurena and Argentina's national Olympic committee chief Gerardo Werthein are the other two nominees.
