Lisa Carrington and Erin Taylor finished seventh in the womens K2 500 kayak final at Eton Dorney today. Though the New Zealanders qualified only seventh fastest of the eight finalists, they were hoping to push for a place at least in the top five in the final. Instead they were never better than seventh and finished in 1min 46.290s. Germans Franziska Weber and Tina Dietze won impressively in 1min 42.213s, from Hungary and Poland. Carrington needs to put the disappointment of the seventh placing behind her quickly. The K1 200, in which she is the world champion, begins tomorrow with heats and semi-finals. The other New Zealand paddler in action today, Teneale Hatton, was seventh in the K1 500m B final. London 1908 Olympic Summer Games Canoe/Kayak - Sprint
