In early July New Zealand Olympic Committee Finance Manager, Lee Frew, embarked on a five day working session with the Cook Islands National Olympic Committee (CISNOC) as part of the Olympic Solidarity programme that supports National Olympic Committees in need. Solidarity provided funds for a Finance Session at CISNOC where Frew had drafted a programme session of an overview on Financial Best Practice for the exchange which included working closely with CISNOC Executives and staff. Executives and staff included CISNOC President Sir Geoffrey Henry, Secretary General Rosie Blake, CISNOC Administration Manager Siniva Marsters, Finance Manager/ Treasurer Helen Omeara, Olympic Solidarity Officer Lydia Sijp, PA to the Presidents Office Odile Pauka, Sports Manager Robert Graham, Vice Presidents Ina Marsters and Mrs Teina Taulu and Senior Vice President George Paniani. Frew was invited to discuss financial Best Practice, look at and overview risk, advise on financial month end reporting, policies and procedures, role and skill set alignment/overview, along with consolidated template and MYOB training. Frew said it was a highlight to be able to work with Executive Board and Staff of CISNOC and was invited to attend the swearing in of the New Prime Minister of Rarotonga where history was made as it was the first time both the PM and budget of new party were heard and sworn in it at the same time. The experience was a privilege and a very humbling and a very interesting experience for me, says Frew. CISNOC are extensive users of Solidarity and World Programmes and provide all sports programmes and initiatives for the Cook Islands. They are charged with the enormous task of grass roots to high performance activities within their Islands. The CISNOC staffs provide a wealth of sporting and community knowledge that benefit both their community and sporting codes.
