The Black Sticks Women have collected their second win over China with another 2-1 victory in Beijing. Black Sticks coach Mark Hager said he was pleased with the first half effort but again the teams structure fell apart in the second spell. Thankfully our deep defence coped well in that second spell to keep us in the game. Youngster Petrea Webster opened the scoring just before half time when she popped a loose ball in the circle over the keeper. The 1-0 half time lead was extended to 2-0 early in the second spell when Charlotte Harrison also pounced on a loose ball in the circle to smash it into the left hand corner. China responded in the 49th minute but couldnt knock in the equaliser. Striker Krystal Forgesson and midfielder Ella Gunson were standouts tonight while captain Kayla Sharland was rested after recovering from an injury. The Black Sticks face China again on Friday night (NZ time) in the final of three tests.
