Both New Zealand beach volleyball teams scored wins today, keeping the squad’s unbeaten Games record intact.

Brothers Sam and Ben O’Dea won their second three-setter in as many days, beating Mozambique’s Delcio Soares and Carlos Acadio 19-21, 21-9, 15-11.

The New Zealanders were unable to shake off their opponents in the first set, but when they led 18-17, it seemed they might be OK.

However, Soares and Acadio took the first set and the battle was on. The New Zealanders were much more focused after that and eventually were deserving winners of the 46-minute match.

They meet England in their final pool match tomorrow.

The New Zealand women’s team of Shaunna Polley and Kelsie Wills had their first outing today and were generally untroubled to beat Rwana’s Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denyse Mutatsimpundu 21-14, 21-16 in 35 minutes.

Next up tomorrow for the New Zealand women is a match against Singapore.
