Join us to celebrate the Queen's Baton Relay as it travels across New Zealand this December. In this penultimate leg of the baton journey we look forward to building the excitement for Kiwis ahead of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The Queen’s Baton Relay is a Games tradition that celebrates the diversity of the Commonwealth nations, inspires community pride and excites people ahead of the world-class festival of sports and culture to come.

There are limited opportunities to carry the baton on its short journey from Queenstown up to Auckland via Christchurch and those spots will be allocated to people who have made an outstanding commitment and contribution to their local community. This can be in any field and is not just limited to sporting activities.

The New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) reserves the right to select at its sole discretion. Your home location may be taken into account (with some baton bearers transported to a location at NZOC's cost).

To participate you’d need to be available between 18 and 23 December 2017, and you can nominate either yourself or someone else to be involved. Each baton bearer will have an opportunity to carry the baton on one of the dates above as we journey across New Zealand. No baton bearer will be required for the entire duration of the relay.

This is a chance to be a part of history!
