The London 2012 Basketball Arena is the first to play host to competition, with the London International Basketball Invitational, at the Olympic Park as part of the London Prepares series. The Arena is only a temporary structure and is the fourth to be completed by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) in the Olympic Park this year. The venue located inside Olympic Park has a maximum capacity of 12000. However, during this test event only 3000 spectators per day will be allowed in due to safety reasons. John Armitt, chairman of the ODA, said he was happy that the arena was hosting the first test event at Olympic Park and using the test event to see how the Arena it shapes up for 2012. The Arena will host both basketball and handball at the London 2012 Olympics. The London International Basketball Invitational is playing host to teams from Australia, China, Croatia, France, Great Britain and Serbia with games being played over six days.
