Kristie Baillie has been confirmed by the New Zealand Olympic Committee selectors for the final spot in the womens 4x400m relay in the Athletics team for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Baillie (22) from Morrinsville, was the New Zealand 400m champion in 2012 and has a best time in 2014 of 54.69 set on the Gold Coast last weekend and a personal best of 53.19 in 2012.

She was earlier named as first reserve for the team and her naming brings the relay squad to six. The other squad members are Zoe Ballantyne, Portia Bing, Katherine Camp, Brooke Cull and Louise Jones.

Baillie was a member of the quartet, along with Ballantyne, Cull and Jones, which qualified the team in April for the Glasgow Games.

In announcing Baillies inclusion, the selectors noted that Monique Dell, who had been pending selection for the relay team subject to form and fitness, had been unable to meet the standard by the deadline of 30 June.

The selection of Baillie brings the Athletics team for Glasgow to 22.

Athletics New Zealand selection convenor Graham Seatter will be available for comment after 1.00pm today.
