New Zealand's brother and sister mixed doubles pairing of Oliver and Susannah Leydon-Davis were eliminated in the third round at the Games badminton tournament today.

Having beaten Jamaicans Anthony McNee and Alana Bailey 21-13, 19-21, 21-8 in a testing 42-minute first round match, New Zealand pairing had the misfortune to run into third seeds Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith of England.

The New Zealanders played well to extend the match 34 minutes before going down 21-17, 21-12.

Oliver, 26, and Susannah, 27, had to work hard to get past the Jamaicans first up. They were going smoothly when the wheels came off in the second set, and they did well to adjust and run out convincing winners in the third.

The English, though, were too severe and forced the New Zealanders into costly errors.
