March has been a busy month for us. Our first run for the season was Tweseldown and we had all our horses there for a quiet canter around to to ease them back into competition. They all did their jobs well and seemed happy to be back out.
We then went to Gatcombe with Clifton Promise and Clifton Lush who are both lining up for the Kentucky Rolex and Badminton. At Gatcombe we just had them do the dressage and showjumping, which they both did very well! I also had some younger ones there who are working their way up through the grades.
Our next event was Sommerly Park where we took some young horses out for their first starts. Like the other horses at Tweseldown, they all cantered quietly round and had a nice time.
Next up was Belton Park which was the first decent track of the year and a good lead up event for Badminton and Kentucky. Promise and Lush both went very well While Promise had an uncharacteristic rail in the showjumping, he was excellent on the cross country. Lush did a very nice double clear and both horses will now go on to Weston Park for their final lead up event before the big ones. Things are getting serious here now, and both horses are on track and feeling good! There’s still lots of training and galloping going on to put everything into place. Fingers crossed our successful preparation continues!
