13 Days until the final selection race in Sydney, and my final opportunity to give the selectors every reason to select me for London 2012 New Zealand Olympic Team.
Up until now everything has been going really well with my build up toward this important race. I have been based in Wanaka and Auckland with a bit of time spent in Palmerston North with my swim coach. Overall I have really enjoyed each place for their very different positive outlooks for my preparation. I did however choose to be based back at home with my final lead up as I find this leaves me a lot more relaxed and focussed. It is great being at home around friends and family, and especially Mums cooking and washing!
Overall it is a very exciting time around the NZ 2012 Olympic campaign with many different codes announcing the teams of focused and medal hungry athletes all ready to pounce come July and August. it is great to see my fellow London scholarship holders like Blair Tuke, Peter Burling and Daniel Bell all qualify for the Games. For me it’s the final two weeks of build-up and rest, then come the 14th April. Race Day! Let’s just hope I can be joining those other athletes in London.
