It was great to be back in my home town of Kerikeri over Easter Weekend to race the A-Class Catamaran nationals. The racing was good fun with nice 10-15 knot winds over the three days. I managed to finish 2nd overall to Luc de Bois, who placed 4th at last year’s worlds.

After plenty of fitness training and sailing behind us, it was awesome to find out the International Olympic Committee is awarding us an Olympic Solidarity scholarship to help in qualification for London. It’s a huge help to us financially in helping to cover flights, accommodation and other costs, leaving us to concentrate full time on our 49er Olympic campaign.

We had our last 49er sail in NZ last week, which was extremely windy and wet, but it was all good experience.

We’re now in Europe for part of the Sailing World Cup circuit, with the first stop in Medemblik, Holland – followed closely by Weymouth, UK, which is the sailing venue for the 2012 Olympics. We’ve even had a ride in a NZ2012 branded London Black Cab which was very cool.
