I am sitting down here at the beach watching the kids boogie boarding, people stand up paddling, people running, families cycling, kayaking and picnicking.
Things that make us NZer’s, things that are on our doorstep, things that we tend to take for granted. It makes me realise how lucky we are, I spare a thought for the people of Christchurch and hard it must be down there right now! How resilient they all must be, I feel kind of guilty to be sitting here enjoying how beautiful this beach is. That guilt is then swept away with a sense of pride. Everywhere you look there are fundraising efforts going on to raise money for the rebuild and to help those families. I just put and old windsurfing sail on Trademe and got $106 for it and all that money is going to Christchurch!!! It appears that everyone is doing his or her part but I know there is so much more to do. About 50% of all Christchurch’s sporting facilities are damaged which to me is a HUGE loss especially when we have many aspiring Olympic athletes down there campaigning for London. That’s it I am off to put more memorabilia on trade me to raise more money for Christchurch Athletes. They need to get to London as it is going to be in the famous words of Juan Antonio Samaranch. “The best Olympics ever”
