We got back from the Olympic Test Event over a month ago now and have been busy debriefing and working through plans for the year ahead.
After a short break from the boat (nicely missing the cold winter weather) we got back into training, 5 days sailing in Petes hometown of Tauranga was a fun way to get back into it. We have spent quite a bit of time out biking, kayaking and running building up a good base fitness as well as time spent in the gym.
We have also had time to enjoy the Rugby World Cup and it’s been awesome to see New Zealand getting behind the tournament. It has been especially cool seeing the stadiums full even when the smaller nations are playing! We got lucky through the ballot system and have tickets to the final and can’t wait to see the ABs make us proud. We also really enjoyed watching the Warriors make it to the NRL Grand Final.
Next week we will be heading up to Kerikeri (Blair's hometown) for a few days of training, this will provide a bit of variation from the usual Auckland training schedule. Training is now in full swing for December’s World Champs in Perth, which will be our first chance to qualify NZ for a place at the Olympics in the 49er class.
Go the All Blacks!
