The New Zealand Olympic Committee and Olympic Academy have produced a number of New Zealand curriculum-aligned teaching and learning resources to promote the Olympic Values.
Our latest resource, Living the Olympic Values, contains a variety of digital shared-reading texts based on the Olympic Values. The texts are able to be used on a computer and data projector and preferably an interactive whiteboard and are highly engaging.
The resource has been designed in a flexible way to meet the level 2,3 and 4 achievement objectives of the New Zealand Curriculum, specifically Health and Physical Education, English and Social Sciences and is supported by comprehensive teacher notes.
The Living the Olympic Values resource corresponds expecially to the key competencies of Participating and contributing and Relating to others. It links well with the Health and Physical Education concepts of Hauora, Attitudes and values and the Socio-ecological perspective.
The resource facilitates inquiry learning and supports literacy achievement across years 4-8. The digital texts closely align with the text characteristics in the Reading and Writing Standards and the learning experiences reinforce the knowledge, skills and attitudes students need at each year level, as described in the Literacy Learning Progressions.
Download Living the Olympic Values now. These cutting-edge interactive, digital resources will inspire and engage your students and help them explore, experience and model New Zealand curriculum values through the Olympic Values and our Olympian stories.
Look out for new texts which will be added on a regular basis.
