After a spell of 13 years, Shaye has come back into the sport of diving and made rapid progress to be selected for her first Commonwealth Games.

Her comeback was particularly stunning in that she so quickly qualified to compete at the 2017 World Championships on 1 metre, the event she will compete at Gold Coast.

Shaye was born in Zimbabwe and emigrated to Auckland in 2001, becoming a New Zealand citizen the following year. She now trains under Olympic Coach Steve Gladding and is performing more difficult dives than she did in her "first" diving career.
