Rebecca Scown is a double Olympic medallist, having won the women's pair bronze at the 2012 London Olympic Games with Juliette Haigh, and silver at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games with Genevieve Behrent. At the Rio Olympic Games Rebecca competed in both the women's coxless pair and the women's eight.

This was the first time in New Zealand Rowing Olympic history individual athletes have contested more than one event.

Scown had been part of the eight since 2015 where they achieved a silver medal at the 2015 World Rowing Championships and became the first New Zealand women's eight to qualify for the Olympic Games.

Scown paired up with Kayla Pratt in 2013 and Louise Trappitt in 2014 to win bronze at both World Championships.

Scown hails from Hawera, Taranaki and is a member of the Union Boat Club in Whanganui.
