Owen will compete in the Men's Trap and has been shooting for thirteen years, competing in national and international competitions for the last eight.

A career highlight is being the first New Zealander to top score at a World Cup Match in men's trap (2017) finishing in 6th place. Another international achievement was finishing in 15th place at the World Championships in Peru (2013).

Owen currently holds the New Zealand record for Men's Trap at 123/125 targets.

He manages to balance the demands of his shooting training together with administering his own electrical business and life at home with his family. Owen acknowledges the ongoing support of his family to help him achieve his goals.
