Lote came to the fore at the 2006 New Zealand International Sevens tournament where he made his debut for New Zealand on his home ground. Like most of the Sevens players, he is also equally at home in the fifteens game and in 2005 he played eight matches for East Coast in the NPC Division Two. Previously, he played for the Wellington Under 21 side as well as the province’s Development team.
