Karen Conway was one of the big diving names of her time. Based mainly in Rotorua, she won six New Zealand springboard titles from 1967-74 and represented New Zealand at the 1974 Christchurch Commonwealth Games.
In Christchurch, Conway finished 9th in the springboard competition – which also included other New Zealanders Marg Lay and Rebecca Ewert - with 376.29pts. She was placed 8th after the preliminary round of dives and dropped a spot in final round, totalling 376.83 points. The event was totally dominated by the Canadians, who claimed all three medals. There were 12 competitors.
