Cameron represented New Zealand at the 2015 World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea, placing fifth in 49.92.  He earlier represented New Zealand at the Oceania Regional Championships, winning four medals.

Cameron recently broke the New Zealand 400m hurdles record, running 49.33 in Canberra.

This performance qualified him for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, his first major international competition.

Cameron has won three New Zealand 400m hurdles titles and has won New Zealand Championship medals over 100m and 400m.
