A regular feature in New Zealand teams in recent years, Caitlin helped make history when she joined the first women's K4 boat to compete at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The North Shore paddler has been involved in the team boat for more than two years, combining with Jaimee Lovett, Aimee Fisher and Kayla Imrie in 2015 to record a series of eye-catching results. The quartet had a breakthrough year in 2015 under Danish-born coach Rene Olsen, winning K4 500m at the World Cup round in Portugal and making the final at the world championships in Milan.

Ryan is also a strong surf lifesaver, having twice won the New Zealand women's open ski race title, and works part-time as a dental hygienist, having completed a degree at Auckland University of Technology.
