Born in Waiuku of Italian parents, Angela moved to Australia as an infant and was discovered playing representative age group basketball across the Tasman. She was called into the New Zealand team shortly before the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and emerged as one of the team's star performers. Angela led the Ferns in scoring at last year's William Jones Cup (16.0) and Oceania Championships (14.0).
