Versatile enough to play everywhere across the backline and sometimes in midfield for Waikato in the NZFC this season, Aaron also took over the captaincy of his club, leading a young team to a mid-table finish. When U-23 coach Stu Jacobs threw him the Oly-Whites armband for a tough qualification series in Fiji, Aaron led by example as New Zealand navigated tricky fixtures with an unblemished record.
